S.M.I.L.E.       So Much Improvement with a Little Exercise

.........is a campaign aiming to raise awareness of health issues among older residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

It was designed to deliver physical activity sessions to the local residents of RBWM who were over 50, whilst encouraging opportunities for volunteering, socialising and reducing isolation.

These sessions were to take place within outreach centres e.g parish halls, libraries and day-care centres as well the local RBWM leisure centres.

The launch phase of this program commenced in October 2003, initial funding was agreed with the Office to the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) via Local Public Service Agreement. £90,000 funded the basic program for three years and enabled the launch to proceed.

At the end of 2005 a club was formed with a Committee, Officers and a Constitution. The Objectives of the Club are the preservation, protection and improvement of good health by the promotion and support of healthy lifestyles.

Windsor and Maidenhead SMILE Club gained Charity status in May 2013.
